All cancellations must be made in writing to info@sanyuadventures.co.nz. The cancellation is effective on the day we receive your written notice.
Unless a specific supplier requires stricter terms (see Section 3), the following scale applies to the total journey price:
Some elements of an East African journey are non-refundable from the moment they are confirmed, regardless of when you cancel. These typically include:
We will always tell you at the time of booking which elements are non-refundable and how much of your total that represents.
Small changes — for example a room upgrade or an added activity — can usually be made without a fee, subject to availability. Larger changes such as new travel dates or a new destination are treated as a new quote. If a change reduces the total price, we will refund the difference less any supplier fees.
SANYU may cancel a booking in the rare case of serious safety concerns, government advisories, force majeure events or a supplier failure that we cannot substitute. In that situation we will refund all amounts paid to us that have not already been passed on and are non-recoverable from suppliers. Where possible, we will offer an alternative journey of equivalent value.
"Force majeure" includes events beyond our reasonable control — war, civil unrest, pandemics, natural disasters, extreme weather, wildlife-related closures, industrial action and government action. Where a force majeure event affects your journey, we will pass on any refunds we successfully recover from our suppliers, but SANYU cannot be held liable for amounts that suppliers do not refund.
Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travel with SANYU. Your policy should cover cancellation, curtailment, medical evacuation, personal accident and lost baggage. Most amounts that are not refundable to you under this policy will typically be recoverable from a good travel insurer.
Refunds are made by bank transfer to the same account or card that made the original payment, in USD, less any bank or payment-processing fees charged to us. Refunds are typically processed within 14 working days of the refundable amount being confirmed.
This Cancellation Policy is part of our Terms & Conditions and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
