Terms & Conditions

These terms apply whenever you enquire, book or travel with SANYU Adventures Ltd. They are written plainly, so you know exactly what to expect from us — and what we ask of you.

Last updated: 10 July 2026 · SANYU Adventures Ltd · New Zealand

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions form the agreement between you ("the traveller", "you") and SANYU Adventures Ltd ("SANYU", "we", "us"), a New Zealand registered luxury travel company. By confirming a booking with us you accept these terms.

2. Our role

SANYU designs and coordinates guided journeys across East Africa. On the ground your journey is delivered by carefully selected local partners — lodges, camps, guides, drivers, park authorities and permit offices. SANYU acts as your planner and advocate; the on-the-ground services are provided by these independent operators.

3. Enquiries and quotes

An enquiry does not create a booking. Every enquiry receives a personal reply from Ritah with a proposed itinerary and quote. Quotes are valid for 14 days unless we say otherwise, and are subject to live availability of accommodation, permits and flights.

4. Bookings and deposits

  • A booking is confirmed only when we issue a written confirmation and receive the required deposit.
  • A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total journey price is typically required to secure your booking.
  • Gorilla and chimpanzee permits, seasonal camps and international flights may require full pre-payment because they are non-refundable at source.
  • The balance is due 60 days before your departure date, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

5. Prices

Prices are quoted in United States Dollars (USD) unless we agree otherwise. Prices include the services described in your itinerary. They do not include international flights (unless stated), visas, travel insurance, personal expenses or gratuities.

We reserve the right to adjust a quote before booking if suppliers change their rates, if government fees (such as park or permit fees) change, or if currency exchange rates move materially. Once your booking is confirmed and deposit paid, your price is locked in — except for unavoidable government fee changes.

6. Passports, visas and health

You are responsible for holding a valid passport with at least six months' validity and the required blank pages, obtaining the correct visas for every country on your itinerary, and meeting the health requirements (including yellow fever certification where applicable). We are happy to guide you, but final responsibility rests with you.

7. Travel insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travel with SANYU. Your insurance must cover medical evacuation, trip cancellation, personal accident and lost baggage for the full duration of your journey. We will ask for your policy details before departure.

8. Cancellations and changes

Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.

We may need to make small changes to your itinerary due to weather, wildlife movement, road conditions, permit availability or safety. Where changes are within our control we will offer the closest possible equivalent at no extra cost.

9. Your responsibilities on the journey

  • Follow the reasonable instructions of your guides, especially around wildlife, water and altitude.
  • Respect local cultures, laws, dress codes and photography etiquette.
  • Tell us in advance of any medical condition, dietary need or accessibility requirement.
  • Behave in a way that does not endanger yourself, other travellers, our team or wildlife.

We reserve the right to end a traveller's participation in a journey, without refund, in the rare case of unsafe or disrespectful behaviour.

10. Limits of liability

SANYU takes great care in selecting its partners, but the transport, accommodation, activities and permits on your journey are provided by independent third parties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SANYU is not liable for loss, injury, delay, illness or damage caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including weather, wildlife behaviour, mechanical failure, strikes, government action or acts of God.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Complaints

If something is not right during your journey, please tell your guide or contact us straight away so we can put it right on the ground. Any formal complaint should be sent in writing to info@sanyuadventures.co.nz within 30 days of the end of your journey.

12. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by New Zealand law, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
