Frequently Asked Questions

Before you travel.

What animals am I likely to see?

Lions, elephants, Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and a wide range of antelope, alongside more than 450 recorded bird species. Sightings are wild and never guaranteed, but Murchison is one of Uganda's most rewarding wildlife landscapes.

Is Uganda safe for safari travel?

Yes. Uganda is a well-established, welcoming safari destination. You travel privately with an experienced driver-guide, stay in vetted lodges and follow park guidelines throughout.

When is the best time to visit?

This journey runs all year round. The drier months of December to February and June to September bring easier game viewing, while the green season offers dramatic skies, lush landscapes and superb birding.

What should I pack?

Light neutral clothing, a warm layer for early game drives, a hat, sunglasses, sun protection, insect repellent, binoculars and personal medication. We send a complete list with your itinerary.

Is this suitable for families?

Yes. The pace is easy to moderate, the drives are broken up with stops, and the boat cruise and Source of the Nile excursion are particular favourites with younger travellers.

Can I combine this with gorilla trekking?

Absolutely. A gorilla trekking extension in Bwindi is the most popular addition, and chimpanzee trekking in Kibale combines beautifully too.

What photography equipment is recommended?

A telephoto lens of 200mm or longer for wildlife, a wide lens for landscapes, spare batteries and memory cards, and a beanbag or soft support for the vehicle.

Can this journey be customised?

Always. Length, pace, accommodation style and the balance between wildlife, culture and adventure are all shaped around you before anything is confirmed.
