How difficult is the Rwenzori hike?
Moderate to challenging. Expect steep, often wet ground, altitude and several hours of walking each day. This journey follows selected trails rather than a technical summit climb, and the pace is set to the group.
Do I need previous hiking experience?
No previous mountain experience is required, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven ground and be prepared for cool, wet conditions.
What equipment should I bring?
Waterproof hiking boots, warm layers, a rain jacket and over-trousers, gloves and a hat, a small daypack, sun protection and personal medication. We send a complete list with your itinerary.
When is the best time to visit?
January to February and June to September are the drier months, with clearer views and firmer trails. The Rwenzori are wet by nature, so good waterproofs matter year-round.
Can beginners join this journey?
Yes, if you are reasonably fit and willing. We adjust daily distances and altitude gain, and easier alternatives are available on every hiking day.
What wildlife may I encounter?
